DESCRIPTION

ZVES composition is used when a high level of protection of metal structures from corrosion is required. Basically, ZVES is used as an independent coating. The material is effective against corrosion and has a clear industrial purpose. In the oil and gas industry, it serves to protect the inner surface of tanks for light oil products. In the thermal power industry it is used to protect containers under water. In transport construction, friction joints are protected by the ZVES composition.

ZVES is also used in complex coating systems. The material is technological, dries quickly, and is well compatible with a number of VMP enamels.

CONSUMPTION PER M2

The theoretical consumption for a dry single-layer coating is 228-285 g/m2.

SURFACE PREPARATION

degrease the metal surface to the first degree according to GOST 9.402-2004;

perform abrasive blasting of the surface to degree 2 according to GOST 9.402-2004 (Sa 21/2 according to ISO 8501-1:2007) with roughening, the recommended surface profile Rz = 30-50 microns.

It is optimal to use an abrasive that provides a sharp-angled (grit) surface profile; the use of manual and mechanized tools is not allowed;

remove dust.

Preparation of the ZVES coating before applying the coating enamels:

degrease (if necessary) with aqueous solutions of detergents (pH of solutions should be in the range of 6 to 8), slight degreasing (without grinding) using white spirit is allowed;

remove moisture and dust.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

mix zinc paste thoroughly to homogenous condition;

completely (mixing ratio 100:15 by mass, respectively) add the binding agent to the paste with constant stirring;

mix to homogenous condition before application.

If necessary, the ZFES composition should be diluted to the working viscosity:

- for airless spraying from 20 to 50 seconds;

- for air spraying from 20 to 30 seconds.

ZFES is recommended to be applied at a temperature from minus 15 °С to plus 40 °С and relative air humidity from 30 to 80 % (best practical from 50 % to 80 %). The temperature of the surface to be painted must be above the dew point by at least 3 °C, but not above plus 40 °C. When painting, the temperature of the material should not be below plus 15 °C.

When carrying out painting work below 0 °C, the surface to be painted must be free from snow, ice or frost.

Apply 2-5 layers by airless, conventional (air) spray, brush/roller (striped painting).

Exceeding the total coating thickness of more than 200 microns can lead to cracking and deterioration of adhesion of the coating to the metal.

The composition is applied in factory and field conditions at temperatures from minus 15 ° C to plus 40 ° C and relative humidity from 30% to 80% (best practical is from 50% to 80%), when applied at low temperatures, it is possible to reduce the thickness of the non-leaking "wet" layer.

Each subsequent layer of the ZFES composition should be applied after drying the previous "to tack free" (lightly pressing the finger on the coating does not leave a trace and does not give a feeling of stickiness).

The time before the packaging and shipment of structures at a temperature of 20 °C is not less than 12 hours, the holding time of the coating to operation in corrosive environments is 7 days.

The minimum overcoating interval by POLYTON-UR, ALUMOTAN and FERROTAN at a temperature  of (20±2) °С and relative air humidity (60±5) % is not less than 6 hours; before applying other coating  materials – not less than 24 hours.

It is recommended to apply coating painting systems on the ZFES coating in two steps to prevent the appearance of the "gassy surface" effect of the finish coating:

- apply a thin layer of painting systems with a "light spray" to moisten;

- apply a layer of coating painting systems for covering to the required thickness (not earlier than in 2 hours)

STORAGE OF ANTICORROSIVE COMPOSITION

The composition is supplied as a complete set: the base and binder, packed in metal buckets, metal cans and plastic cans, respectively, depending on the weight of the kit.

Storage and transportation of the composition – in accordance with GOST 9980.5-2009 (at ambient temperature from minus 40 ° C to plus 40 ° C). Container with components should not be exposed to precipitation and direct sunlight.

The shelf life of zinc paste is 12 months, binder – 6 months from the date of manufacture.

SECURITY MEASURES

When working with the composition, the relevant industry standards and requirements should be observed, as well as the precautions indicated on the packaging label.

Personal protective equipment (glasses, face masks and respirators) shall be used, inhalation of thinners and contact of the composition or its components with skin, ocular mucosa, respiratory channels shall be avoided; use inside the premises is allowed only in case sufficient ventilation is provided.

The composition refers to fire-hazardous materials. ZVES coating is fireproof, non-toxic, refers to materials that do not spread flames over the surface.
